He always hated the place he grew up.
He could just don’t understand how someone would find joy by staying in a place like this.
It was big alright, and sunny and in the old days the people could go and swim in the sea, just in front of his doorstep.
But he didn’t catch these times.
He was not even born then!
He could just not get it…
What is left to love in a place like this?
Poor, dirty and miserable like nothing else in the whole world.
A fallen port city.
Full of corruption and illegal operations.
Full of rusty containers and big machines.
Full of families with unpaid labor workers, full of widows due to the working accidents in the docs.
Every year his mum would make his birthday cake and he would always secretly wish the place to disappear.
He loved his mother very much, but he couldn’d understand her either.
Why stay there?
Most times he would think like it was just the two of them against the world.
But then a warm afternoon last spring, he went to buy bread and he fell on to his neighbour’s daughter,
She was lost for years somewhere far away with her then husband to be…
He never stop to be secretly in love with her.
Now she was back, divorced and determined never to leave her hometown again.
He went back home and sat in his balcony .
Suddenly this horrible place seemed a bit less worse than he thought.
